Community Service

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer!

Volunteers work side-by-side with library county employees to strengthen customer service and programs in effect enhance and emphasize the Library's relationship with the local community. Learn how you can volunteer in-person through the library! These opportunities are for Nueces County Library teen cardholders in 6th-12th grade unless otherwise noted. For more information about any of our teen community service programs, please call 361-387-3820 or email crystal.drillen@nuecesco.com

How to Volunteer?

You can volunteer by completing an individual application and submit it. If you have any questions or would like to discuss available volunteer opportunities please contact our Assistant County Librarian or Youth Services Librarian.

Summer Youth Volunteer Program

What is the Summer Youth Volunteer Program?

Youth volunteers help staff in various duties around the library. Most youth volunteers traditionally assist the Youth Services librarians with programs and/or program preparation. Duties may include lesson planning, preparing programming materials, program set-up and take down, supervising and assisting participants during programs, re-shelving books, and light clean up. Volunteer duties and positions will vary depending on the summer and the location.

How do I apply?

Our application can be found online at Individual Application

Please do not mail a paper application.

Once our Librarians receive your application, we will contact you via email to set up an interview date and time if your application is approved.

Who do I contact if I have questions?

Please contact Youth Services Librarian, Veronica Anguiano or Crystal Drillen, Assistant County Librarian at 361-387-3431 with any questions you may have.

Come and join this fun, rewarding experience at your Library!
