What does the NCPL Community Outreach do?
See below what programs and services we can provide to the community!
Storytime develops literacy
With Storytime, Toddlers develop early literacy skills with unique phonics rules that help them interact with letters and words and learn rapidly. Regular story time helps young children build a foundation for literacy they can use when they reach the age that children traditionally learn how to read.
STEM in early development
Studies show that preschoolers and young children are not too young to understand what's taught in STEAM. In fact, STEAM actually taps into their innate “creativity, curiosity, and persistence,” and allows them to collaborate and communicate with each other in pursuit of this goal.
Other STEM Technology we can provide: Legos, OSMO, Ozobots, Dot & Dash, Sphero and more!
Arts & Crafts in early development
Crafting helps develop fine motor skills. The act of grabbing a crayon or paint brush develops the muscles that will later help preschoolers button their coat, tie their shoes, write, and more. It boosts counting and pattern recognition.
Library Programs
We currently have the "1000 Books Before Kindergarten" program at our library! For children, ages 0-5 yrs old.
During our outreach, we can explain what the program is all about and how to start!
We can also talk about all library events happening at the Keach Family Library and the Bishop County Library!
